This e-learning module equips personnel with the essential knowledge and skills to safely inspect, operate, and clean powered pallet trucks (PPTs). Widely used across industries for efficient heavy-load transport, PPTs require authorised and trained operators to ensure workplace safety.
The beginning of the module features an index with easy access to sections, quizzes and resources.
The introduction and welcome message outlines the module's objectives and sets the stage for the learner's journey.
Each core section displays a brief overview, giving learners a clear understanding of the content they're about to explore.
Interactive scenarios are a key feature of this module, designed to engage learners and encourage active participation.
The module concludes with a quiz to measure comprehension and retention of the key concepts covered.
Project Details
This instruction focuses on critical safety aspects of both the PPT and the operating environment.
Core Sections
Pre-Operational Inspection: Trainees learn to meticulously inspect all PPT components, ensuring proper functionality.
Operation: This section focuses on safety during PPT operation, educating individuals on best practices to ensure the well-being of the operator and those nearby.
Cleaning: Trainees gain knowledge on effective PPT cleaning practices, guaranteeing the vehicle is in optimal condition for each use.
Implement effective cleaning and maintenance techniques.
The module concludes with a knowledge assessment in the form of a quiz. This assessment utilises a variety of question formats, including multiple-choice, scenario-based, and drag-and-drop questions.
Development
This e-learning module was developed with Storyline 360, ensuring accessibility across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. We also used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro for image and video editing.
Team and Collaboration
This project involved collaboration with e-learning developers, instructional designers, IT professionals, subject matter experts, and on-the-job trainers. I coordinated with team members and led the development process, ensuring the successful completion of the e-learning module.
Key Responsibilities
E-Learning Development: Built the interactive learning experience using Storyline 360.
Multimedia: Designed and developed digital content including graphics, animations, audio, and video.
Documentation: Maintained comprehensive documentation of designs, systems, and processes.
Project Management: Coordinated with cross-functional teams for on-time delivery.
Validation: Ensured all content aligned with established learning objectives.
Evaluation: Developed quizzes, tests, and assessments to measure learner comprehension.
Performance: Conducted thorough testing to identify and fix bugs or issues.
Deployment: Integrated digital content into the corporate intranet using Java, HTML and CSS.
Optimisation: Gathered and incorporated feedback from learners and stakeholders to improve content.
Challenges
The main challenge was balancing PPT operation coverage with a strong emphasis on safety. The objective was to ensure learners acquired the necessary safety knowledge before engaging in a practical session with the vehicle.
The e-learning module proved to be a successful training tool. It effectively instructed personnel on all key aspects of the powered pallet truck, including inspection, operation, and cleaning. Feedback from learners and stakeholders confirmed the module's effectiveness in delivering critical safety information and operational procedures, leading to improved safety and efficiency in the workplace.
